About House on Hood

House on Hood opened in March 2010 after two months of renovations, and decades of head scratching.  Originally built in 1915 as Hamilton's Grand Central Hotel the building has many stories to tell.  A one-time doss pad for military folk, it may or may not have spent some time as a house of ill repute.  In 2008 the Phoenix Group got hold of the site and set about developing it.

House is an independent bar and restaurant intent on serving the best range of New Zealand craft beers accompanied by a menu of fresh salads, crispy pizzas and hearty meals.  We pride ourselves on good, old fashioned kiwi hospitality, we're here to make you feel welcome and show you a good time. 

We run regular promotions that keep our loyal customers interested on both the bar and restaurant sides of the business.  Whether you're a member of our weekly Beer & Wine Club on a Thursday, like us for an after-work drink on a Friday or want to kick your heels up to live music on a Saturday night, we've got something for you.
