Welcome to House on Hood

Hi there.

House is slowly dragging itself into the digital age so our weekly note will now look something like this. Don't worry, there'll still be the same bad banter and out-of-date slang so you shouldn't notice too much difference.

Now. We've still got some great guest beers waiting in the chiller so it's time to crack open another.

This week we're popping the cap on a keg of Golden Bear Slam Dunkel.

The brewers down Port Mapua way have been busy over the past few months and this is another example of their labours. This slightly sweeter, nuttier drop is dark brown with coppery highlights and chocolaty, coffee notes. Get amongst it and let us know what you think

From the bottle this week we have Lawsons Dry Hills Gewurztraminer. This Marlborough drop has excellent depth of flavour and is a great example of this sweeter variety. Look for flavour hints of lychee, tropical fruit and even Turkish Delight. Lip smackingly good.

Melbourne Cup 2011

We've still got space left here at House for Melbourne Cup Day celebrations. There is a group drinks and nibble package available or you can just rock up for the big race and catch it on one of our many screens. We'll also have an on-site TAB terminal if you're like me and this is your annual flutter opportunity. Ask any of the team here for details.

With the rugby now a recent and very fond memory we're getting a little bit back to normal and starting to work our way through some of the great beers we have waiting to og on tap. Keep your eyes and ears peeled as we release them over the next few weeks.

Have a great afternoon and we may see you later on.

Cheers,

Nathan and the Houselings
